I have a feeling I will enjoy this ‘vacation’ more than I usually do. Every so often, the family travels to Mombasa to keep Bibi (my grandmother) company. Eid is one of those ‘every so oftens’.
To mark the end of Ramadhan, Muslims celebrate Eid-al-Fitr, a day to celebrate family, love, friendship and food. And in my opinion, there’s no better place to enjoy Eid than Mombasa.
That being said, Eid was two days ago, 28th July 2014. The house was super busy, guests coming in and out. Family. Neighbours. And the occasional stranger who needs a glass of water and perhaps some fare because they lost their way..
I wasn’t able to take many pictures as Mama needed help in the kitchen but my little brother managed to snap a few that I’ll upload on my next blog post, in’shaa’Allah.
Now for today’s subject material. Fatma has a new favourite coffee spot.
The lovely place is called Mikaye Restaurant and it’s just by The Fort. I can literally smell the ocean breeze from where I sit as I listen to Florence and The Machine ‘Ceremonials’. The air is cool as it rained just a few minutes ago. And my bladder is slightly full as I just downed a cup of cappuccino. A blogger in a coffee shop, how cliche. Hah!
I recommend this place to anyone who loves their space and just wants to look outside at the clouds, contemplate and drink some coffee as they are at it 🙂
“Shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, shake it out, ooh whoa
And it’s hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off, oh whoa”
Lots of love

I got this idea from Miss Sharon 🙂 XX
